Welcome to Catraeth Working Newfoundlands

Catraeth Working Newfoundlands is part of The Northern Newfoundland Club's Working Section. We are a group of Newfoundland dog owners who train at Ellerton Park, near Catterick, North Yorkshire, from March to October each year. We meet to train our dogs to take part in water tests and just for the fun of watching and working with Newfies in an environment they love! Our site is here to provide information for those wishing to join in our activities and to celebrate the Newfoundland Dog.

We welcome visitors to our meets and members will be happy to talk about their dogs and club acticities.

To work your dogs with Catraeth Working Newfoundlands, you must be a member of the Northern Newfoundland Club. The cost of a days training is £7.00, five pounds of this is for the parking of a single vehicle and access to the water for you and your dog. The remaining two pounds covers petrol and equpment costs. If you train regularly, you will need a wet or Dry suit with suitable footwear and a life Jacket.

Why Catraeth

Catraeth is the name of the ancient Celtic kingdom that centered on the Rivers Tees and Swale in the North East of England, the name from which the nearby town of Catterick is derived.
